Issue #22
Our main feature car is a 1971 Ford XY Fairmont GS equipped with the 351cid V8 Cleveland and 4-speed transmission topped off in Wild Violet which was found in a farm shed. It’s a miracle that this beauty survived, and wasn’t turned into a GT replica. Following close behind is a 1 of 21 R/T Charger E49 ‘Big Tank’ Track Pack showing just 29,690 miles.
We’ve also unearthed an original HX LE coupe with 74,829 kilometres on the odometer. It has an intriguing story which explains why it was hidden away in the back blocks of Tasmania for years.
Great Survivor ‘bugs’ are getting harder to find but in this issue we feature a very low mile example, a 1975 VW Beetle L with the punchy 1600cc engine that was purchased by one of its owners on a payment plan!
As a teenager riding in his Dad’s truck, car hunter Steve Grant would be forever peering in all directions seeking to spot wrecks in the bush or an old car poking out from a farm shed. Given permission to access a property near South Grafton, he discovers some incredible wrecks that can and should be saved. Check out these time-warp treasures.
As a special feature, check out a collector’s intriguing obsession with pristine Holden Premier Survivors. He has collected one pristine example of each model from EJ to HZ.
There’s something for everyone in this issue, but try not to read it in one sitting!
